"They never learn," Ben said to himself as he fired off the ANECs in conjunction with the Super NOVA, the force off all three beams rivaling the power of Byose's single beam. "And why is it that all the monsters talk these days? Whatever happened to the ones that just roared and snarled?"
As he mused aloud, Byose's own frost beam was forced back into hsi face, freezing his watery form before the combined might of Riptide's weapons blasted it apart, sending shards of ice in all directions.
"Enemy's power field at 80% and falling. Additionally, target's freezer weapons have caused a momentary power output decrease."
"Damn. I'm just not dealing enough damage. I'd bring the Overdrive Cannon to bear, but I don't want to level what's left of the city. Fine, I'll do this the hard way," Ben said, as he fired the Electroshock Anchors into Byose's reforming body, assaulting the watery entity with more electricity than he could handle. Steam continued to rise, blanketing the arena in a kind of fog. Ben didn't mind that so much, as his sensors could pierce the veil.
"Maybe it's the water around here," he said, as the proverbial light bulb went on in his head. "That might be it. But first thing first..."
Riptide's Plasma Cutter came to life, before using to rapidly melt the frozen appendage before directing the blades at Byose, carving his body like a Christmas goose. The water elemental surged forward, throwing a barrage of ice shards as he came. Ben managed to block most with his shield, but a few strikes managed to bury themselves in the cracks in his armor.
"Power restored. now charging all weapons."
"That's it, big guy. Just follow me away from the ocean and sewer lines and whatnot. Let's see how you handle terrain away from the water."
And with that, Riptide opened fire with another barrage of energy beams, all the while moving away from the ocean and the city proper...

Byose reformed himself in his basic water body, he knew full what the mecha was trying to do, it was a tactic tried on him since the humans first crawled from the muck of this world. How soon they forget that there was never an inch around them where water did not exist in one form or another.
Byose followed the machine, watching as the buildings shrank away and more forests and coastal beaches surrounded them. The demigod didn't even mock the mortal, he simply drew the water he needed from the air, living animals and plants that lived within a mile or two.
He looked back at his foe, keeping his body and power together with the force of his divine will as he summoned up the strength for his next attack. But the human was having none of that, firing another round of those cables into the water being's body, shocking him badly.
Byose felt the steam leave him, but unlike the times before this he drew it back into his body with a little effort. Then he slowly reached down to grasp the cable, in a second water shot down it and into the opening that the mecha used to fire this weapon from.
The demigod would have smiled if he had a mouth, the water turned to ice and expanded inside the robot, ripping deep gashes in the "chink" that Byose found in the armor.
Of course this did leave the massive water being open for attack, the robot surged forwards and sliced off it's foe's head. Byose ignored the attack, forming a huge fist of pure ice to spring from his chest to smash the mecha in the shoulder. This forced the robot back, but as it fell a quick beam lanced the demigod's right arm off.
It was clear now that this battle was taking it's tole on Byose, his body strained for a second before forming the damaged parts. He might have been growing tired, but he knew that this machine couldn't be doing much better off. While Byose could die, he would always rise again and continue to attack this city and other like it and keep hammering the humans as well as their defenses until the day the very Earth implodes.
He formed a simple sword out of his right arm and his anchor flail out of his left before surging forwards. This all happened quickly as Riptide struggled to stand up once again, the robot was hit by the first blow, the water sword stabbing into it's shoulder, pinning the giant to the ground as the swinging anchor whooshed around in the air, it's target was clearly the head of the mecha named Riptide.

Athough one arm was pinned, Riptide managed to get the other one up to block. But when the Barrier Field failed to come online, Ben knew something was wrong. The ice anchor bit into the armor, piercing through the NXT layer with ease before cracking the wrist unit and potentially dealing more significant damage to the Plasma Cutter and Barrier Field generator.
"Warning, Plasma Cutter 2 has sustained moderate damage. Barrier Fields are offline. Now beginning emergency re-route."
"Freakin' wonderful," Ben growled as he fired off a beam from the Super NOVA, blasting apart Byose's anchor before letting the beam travel across the monster's torso. Byose writhed as the beam tore away at his body, and Ben was beginning to notice how much longer than usual it was taking for his enemy to reform. A second shot from the Super NOVA tore Byose's other arm apart, giving the machine room enough to rocket backwards and stand up some distance away from Byose, but not before the water elemental managed to score another slash in Ritpide's leg.
"Emergency re-route complete. All systems online."
"Good. Charge the ANECs. Lets hit him with another triple play."
"Affirmative. Now charging."
The familiar glow returned to the shoulder mounted guns as Riptide opened fire with both the ANECs and the Super NOVA, the combined might of the three energy beams tearing Byose apart. Steam billowed out in all directions as the demi-god collapsed, but, as usual, began to slowly reform himself again.
"Well, we can't have that now, can we?"
Another trio of beams lanced out, ready to destroy the half formed Byose once and for all...

Byose suddenly poofed into steam at the last moment, just escaping the beam and it's deadly power. The demigod then reformed behind the mecha, pulling the water right out of the air and soil.
But being a robot, Riptide was near impossible to sneak up on, it spun quickly and sliced the water being in half with it's plasma blade. Byose shrank back from the attack, pulling himself together before his body began to ripple.
Once again this looked like the end of the divine one, but to the human's shock, Byose formed two extra arms out of the water he took in from his surroundings. One arm became an ice sword, another a mace of steam, the third a gun which spat out jagged ice lances and the last arm became a huge water battle axe.
The axe flashed forwards, mace from the side, sword stabbing straight at the center and lastly a second volley of ice lances to join the first, already sticking out of the robot's metallic hide.
Byose might die in this battle, but he was making sure he took his foe with him...and unlike the demigod who knew he could return, the human wouldn't be so lucky.

Ben parried the sword with a Plasma Cutter, slicing the appendage clean off, and managed to block the mace and axe with the Barrier Field, but the ice lances stabbed into the machine's chest, causing more damage to the armored exterior. But Riptide was already backing out of Byose's range, as those hidden booster engines roared ot life once more, suddenly driving Riptide straight forward as the machine slashed and hacked at Byose's body, carving the water elemental to ribbons. The on-screen display showed the target's energy field falling with each strike, as Riptide zoomed out and blasted the quivering mass with another beam from the Super NOVA, splashing water around and sending a column of steam rising into the air.
Byose manged to fire off another freezer beam, catching Riptide's leg before the machine beat him low with a volley from the ANECs. Byose continued to rebuild himself, but much more slowly this time, as Ben zoomed past, slicing open another wound in the water being before turning around and firing the Super NOVA at what he presumed to be his enemy's backside...

Byose was hit by the full force of the blast, his body shook with pain and anger before all the pants around him began to die, their water being taken to replace the water he was losing to steam and falling energy.
The demigod pulled his extra arms back, that test proved that numbers wouldn't get the job done, the only thing that seemed to truly get to the robot and the human inside was pure overwhelming power! Byose formed his anchor flail, the trusty weapon worked well against Riptide in the past, the future however could never truly be known.
The weapon whipped out high, the robot threw up it's arms to guard the chest and head, but Byose threw a curve-ball at the mecha, the chain like part suddenly snapped taunt, the hook like anchor swung low and grabbed the mecha's foot, pulling it to the ground and dragging it through several hills as the divine being reeled in his catch like a fisherman.
Riptide of course didn't take this lying down, the robot fire a few lasers at the chain, two of them missed but the last hit, cutting the weapon from Byose. But the momentum built up by the mech carried it on, skidding right where the demigod wanted it.
Byose's free hand formed once again into that massive hammer, a mix of steam and ice in one compact weapon. He swung it down with great strength, striking the robot in mid skid, forcing it to the ground, the metal around the chest plate was caved in and splintered badly under the harsh extremes.
Slowly the demigod pulled back his hammer and formed his anchor arm into that lance gun, aiming right at the chest, dead center...

Sparks flew from overhead consoles as Ben struggled with the controls. The AI was already running an emergency power re-route, but it would be too late to get the Barrier Fields up and running again in time. Ice lances spiked into the damaged chest plating. Sparks erupted from more damaged circuitry, but Ben didn't care so much. He could see the readings on the screen. Byose was losing power fast, and Riptide...well, Riptide was holding in there. For now.
"Emergency re-route complete. Superstructure damage at 20%, external damage at 60%. Enemy's energy field at 50% and falling rapidly."
"Then let's not waste more time. Fire all weapons, ANECs, super NOVA, any missile launchers that are still operational, I want them all focused on that monstrosity."
"Affirmative. Target lock sequence initiated. Firing in three, two, one..."
Byose towered over the fallen mecha, hammer and anchor ready to deal lethal damage, when Ritpide opened fire with a full barrage, tearing the wate monster apart with explosions and energy beams alike. Byose writhed and twisted, but succumbed to the machine's firepower, disentigrating into a pool of steaming goo. Riptide took the opportunity to right itself, before openeing fire with another full barrage, targeting the largest mass of Byose's form. Ben watched from inside the cockpit as the numbers fell, signifying the loss of his opponent's power.
Byose struggled to reform himself as Ben opened fire with a third massive volley, splattering most of the monster all over the place, but managed to form another anchor and chain, which slammed into Riptide's flank, gouging another wound in the armor before the machine cut it loose with a Plasma Cutter.
"Might as well wait for him to reform some," Ben said, as he ascended into the skies, training his guns on Byose's quivering form. Hitting such small targets was getting to be a problem, so he would have to be patient...for now.

Byose watched the robot soar above him, the demigod knew quite well that he couldn't fly and that even if he could somehow get up yo the mecha, the divine being might not be able to over power it.
At first the monster wondered why the robot wasn't trying to blast it, he was caught in a state of weakness and a few more blasts like that would cause him to have to wait for the next rainstorm. Then he realized that because of his relative small size the human inside was waiting for a larger target to pop up in front of him.
Byose was nearly insulted that his might was taken so lightly, he let his body sink into the ground, flowing between the dirt and stone. He soaked up all the extra water he could as he did so, fairly safe from the mecha as he planned his next attack.
It was going to have to be something new, something the human both would and wouldn't expect from a monster such as him.
Slowly a long watery arm shot from the soil, flying upwards towards the robot, a simple and direct attack that failed almost as soon as it was launched. Lasers and beams sliced the arm apart, clearly the edge was on the human's side...
Of course such a victory was short lived, while the robot trained all it's fire power on the arm, the rest of Byose surged up from under it and grabbed Riptide's feet. The water being then pulled down with all his strength as he and his foe were thrust at shocking speeds down towards the Earth. Just before the impact, Byose raised a hand and shot a small ice beam at the ground, forming the ice that was once part of him into a large jagged spike which would soon be the end of the troublesome robot and it's human controller.

Fortunately, ice, when compared to durable titanium alloys, is relatively brittle. The spear shatters as Riptide crashes into it, embedding slivers of jagged ice into the machine's back, but failing to impale it as Byose might have predicted. Riptide slowly got to its feet, sparks flying from one wound or another. Fortunately, Byose was just as bad off, if not worse. And with his opponent all in one piece now, Ben had the perfect target to destroy.
Emerald green beams of thermonuclear power lanced forward, striking Byose in the center of his form, boiling away the water into steam and then nothingness. Byose shrank back from the assault, only to recieve more blasts from the Super NOVA and the ANECs combined. The water elemnetal wasn't holding up so well, as each time he tried to reform, it took longer and longer to do so.
Riptide stepped forward, preparing to blast at Byose again, when the demi-god lashed out with a whip, seemingly made of steam and ice simultaneously. The water entity cracked the whip, lashing Riptide's frame as damaged armor plating buckled from the assault. But it wasn't enough to deter Riptide, as the machine blasted Byose down to a quivering piuddle of goo.
"And this time, I'm not gonna be so careless," Ben said as he ascended into the sky, training his weapons on Byose and raining down more energy beams and missiles. And he would be sure to keep an eye out for any more tricks the water monster had up its proverbial sleeve...

Byose pulled himself into a serpent shape, using it to wiggle and dodge most of the beams, but one or two still struck his body with flinches of pain. Since the downhill point of the battle the demigod hadn't taunted or even spoken to the human, not wanting to waste his remaining energy for something like that.
Byose slithered quickly, feeling splitters shot off his tail end as he dashed away from the rain of death from above. But he was in luck, moving into more plant life, draining them dry as he pulled water from the area around him.
Byose formed his body again, pulling both his arms together as the ground was reduced to ash all around him, the robot blasting away at the demigod. Suddenly a large frost lance shot forth, made or pure, blue ice which was stronger and colder then normal ice. Riptide quickly trained it's lasers on it and blasted the ice, steam flying every where, Ben relaxed just for a second, but then alarms blared as the mech rocked violently. The lance was reduced in size, it was no longer something that might spear right through it, but now there was a large spear of ice sticking half way into the mech's thigh.

If Riptide could have sneered, the machine would have, as Ben yanked the ice spear out of his leg. None of the major servos were damaged, and that was all that mattered. Byose gurgled as the machine lashed out with both Plasma Cutters, slicing the beast in three before jetting backwards, blasting the water elemental with the Super NOVA and ANECs again, scattering the monster and sending more and more columns of steam rising into the air. Once again, the battlefield grew hazy with the low layer of fog generated by Byose's piecemeal destruction.
Byose shot more ice spears out of his cannon arm, in a wide burst, too wide for Riptide to block all of them. Some merely glanced off the hastily erected Barrier Field, others struck home, burying themselves in the machine's chest and arms. But another shot from the Super NOVA destroyed the cannon arm, forcing Byose to start reforming it again.
"Train all weapons on that thing and fire. Full power to the guns!"
"Affirmative. Beginning weapons charge."
Byose quivered before the mighty weapon of destruction, trying desperately to pull itself together to fight back. And, as battered as the machine was, it could take the punishment and deal it out in return. A trio of energy beams lanced forward, ready to tear Byose apart once again....

Byose split, forcing all the water droplets away instead of together, his body got far enough away that this attack only fried the land. The monster pulled himself together off to the right as Riptide brought it's cannons to bare once again, ready to try again to take his foe out.
But Byose was having none of that, with a hastily formed arm he blasted a frost beam, clogging one of the devastating weapons, making it dangerous for the robot to fire with the chance that it's weapon might explode.
This gave the demigod time to launch his next attack, bunching his body together before blasting upwards like a watery bullet. Riptide readied it's blades once again, watching as the demigod shot through the air with frightening speeds.
Suddenly Byose formed his body into a blade , just barely slipping through the aimed swords to cut into the mech's shoulder. Then he formed himself into his normal body, changing one arm into a dagger like blade, stabbing into the back of Riptide as the other arm formed into his ice lance gun, aiming at the robot's head, knowing an attack at such range would end or at least cripple the robot.

Daggers of ice lacerated damaged armor plating on Riptide's head, shattering the lense covering on eye, even as the machine retaliated, blasting Byose away with a close range blast from the Super NOVA. The plasma weapon tore more of Byose's body apart, forcing the monster to retreat long enough to start reforming.
"Warning, cranial area has sustained 42% damage. Right occular unit disabled. Switching sensor modes."
"Who knew a living tidal wave could be so damaging?"
"Sensor reactivation complete. Awaiting further orders."
"Good. Continue combat. I want the weapons primed and ready at all times. This things can't take much more damage. Problem is...neither can I."
Byose quivered and writhed as Riptide blasted the monster with more energy beams from both the shoulder cannons and the Super NOVA, deconstructing his foe with each shot. Byose fired more ice lances before Riptide could react, causing several to be imbedded in the machine's leg. As Riptide started advancing again, the leg, which had sustained quite a few hits already, suddenly buckled, dropping Riptide to one knee.
"Warning. Leg servos have sustained heavy damage. Unable to reroute power supplies."
"Dammit, of all the times... Fine then. Engage booster engines. We'll finish this from the air."
Booster engines roared to life as Riptide headed skyward before raining down more beams on Byose. The water elemental was little more than a steaming puddle now, but would soon reform, given half the chance. Ben didn't aim to even give him that much, as a volley of missiles shot forth and prepared to destroy Byose...

Byose shifted his remaining water into steam as the missiles crashed into the ground and left gaping holes in their wake, but the demigod suffered little damage.
He turned back into normal water, drawing more and more liquid from his surrounding to build himself back to his former glory. But he was strained, his once calm "skin" rippled in a mix of anger and exhaustion. As he glared down the robot, a small spark shot out of it's leg, showing the watery being that his foe had to be nearly burnt out as well.
Byose began to back away, Riptide trained it's weapons on the kaiju as he seemed to be retreating. But suddenly Byose's form blurred, turning into just a wall of water and in a heart beat it was rushing back at the machine. Missiles flew and lasers flashed, each trying desperately to cut down the wave of pure force before it crashed into Riptide.
The robot was pounded into the ground, slashing wildly at the water as it passed over it and then slowly reformed a little ways away. While his foe was down, Byose took a few moments to rest as well as try to see how much damage was caused by his last attack.

"Minor damage to internal components detected. Hardwired units are still operational."
"Good thing the designers at HQ knew what they were doing when they put this thing together."
Riptide slowly got to its feet as Byose lashed out from behind, attempting to knock the machine over before it could fully stand. But Ben was ready this time. Riptide pivoted on its good leg and lashed out with the Plasma Cutters, slicing the tentacle whip off before blasting Byose in the chest with the ANECs again. The water elemental recoiled as steam billowed off his form. But the demigod, despite being beaten and battered, his energy drained, still had the power to fire off a beam of ice, which quickly froze over Riptide's left arm. Servoes and motors squealed as the machine tried to break the coating of ice by flexing. But even as the ice cracked and broke, Riptide opened fire again with another trio of energy beams, blasting Byose away and further reducing the monster's energy levels.
"Enemy's power field at 30% and falling."
"Excellent. Fire again with another triple blast!"
And with that, Riptide fired off one more barrage from all the energy cannons, hoping to finally dissipate Byose once and for all.
