"Sir...what is that on the monitor?"
Panic and confusion spread as a large destroyer class ship neared what looked like a giant mass of flesh floating in the ocean. The captain turned to his second in command and shook his head, having no clue what this was.
The thing looked like a mass of organs and skin, there was no way something as screwed up as this could be alive, yet the seas around it pulsed with a powerful heartbeat. The ship drew closer, not knowing what they would find, every instinct in the captain told him to turn this ship around and head for the nearest port, but he felt it was his duty to map out a possible danger.
All at once the instruments went nuts, shouts range out that many geiger counters on board were spinning in circles. This thing, whatever it was, it had a massive amount of energy, on top of the screeching machines, there was a deadly chill in the air...something unnatural.
Then, part of the giant sack of meat started to bubble, the commander didn't hesitate a second longer.
"Fire! Do it now!"
The bubble was ripped to shreds under the might of all 30 anti-aircraft cannons, but no cheers sounded at this small victory, instead screams of torment and retching rose into the air.
One long tentacle slowly uncurled itself from the hole in the fleshy cocoon, splashing down in the water with enough force to cause a good sized wave to move the ship away, though it did little good at this point.
Every human on that ship was now dead and their bodies festering with strains of virus never before seen on this planet or any other.
Then the ball of meat gave way, showing a pair of monstrous jaws which made quick work of the fleshy cage that once held this horror. Not long after only scraps were left of the thing's grotesque birth as the monster sank under the waves.
In the weeks to come, the GDF would find the ship on the shore of a small island, the bodies carted away as bio hazards as the mystery killing went unanswered for some time.
Of course, the monster was hardly idle in this time, it attacked and devoured many ocean living mutants as well as taking on more human ships and in the following days this curse on the world became known as Sludgion, another destructive force hellbent to end as many lives as it could. The monster would be added to the ranks of the others who went out of their way to end all life, while dangerous alone, part of it's very DNA was made up of the feared shadow energy and one could not help but prey that this was only a coincidence and not a precursor to another shadow demon.
