The Death Ray boomed loudly as it broke the speed of sound again. On Solaron’s lap, the puppy barked loudly. The creature, dubbed Thunder for its electrical powers, yipped playfully as it dragged its padded paws and fingers across the strong glass. Solaron’s forked tongue emerged as a yellow light flashed inside the cockpit.
“Enemy Base detected.” A robotic voice said, “Activate cloaking?”
Solaron nodded his head. “No.” He responded. He pushed on the U-shaped wheel, making the machine hum as it fell beneath the clouds.
“Activating Weapons.” The robotic voice, the autopilot of the Ray, responded coldly.
Solaron reached forward, pressing his clawed finger on a square button. “Weapons deactivated.” The voice said.
Solaron sighed and blinked his eyes. Thunder yipped in his lap as the red reptile lifted his head. “Let’s meet our new friends.”

“Sir! Bogey inbound from the north!”
Neil groans. “Ugh, NOW what?” After the attack on the base less than two hours ago, he’s understandably in no mood for another.
“It’s not a monster. It looks like an aircraft, but I checked with Eglin and they say it’s not one of theirs.”
“Hmm... send out a pair of Harpies to intercept and escort it here. Put the base on standby.”
“Yes sir.”
---
A few minutes later, two Harpies fly past the Death Ray before swinging around and coming up on either side of it.
“Pilot of unknown craft, you are to land at Imar Science immediately. If you don’t comply we will shoot you down.”
The three aircraft touch down on the runway a short time later. A dozen armed soldiers and a pair of Adams are waiting, their weapons trained on the Death Ray.
“Slowly step out of the craft with your hands up.”
The Death Ray’s cockpit opens and Solaron stands up, one arm raised while the other cradles Thunder.
“I said hands up!”
The reptile jumps down and sets the pup down, then stands back up and raises both hands.
“Now turn around and slowly back towards us.”
Solaron complies, Thunder staying next to him the whole time.
“Freeze!”
“That would be... difficult...” Solaron whispers, too quietly for anyone to hear.
One of the soldiers comes up behind Solaron and handcuffs him. By this time, Suchodon has come over to investigate, still limping slightly from the battle with Overkill almost a week ago. The monster leans down and flicks his tongue out, tasting the air. Thunder begins yapping at Suchodon, and the reptile gets down on all fours, nearly resting his head on the pavement as he gets a closer look at the puppy. Another soldier walks over and scoops the creature up. Suchodon starts to follow as the group takes Solaron and Thunder away, but changes his mind and goes back to his hangar to lay down.
---
Half an hour later, Solaron is sitting in an interrogation room, still handcuffed, with a pair of armed guards keeping watch over him. Neil enters the room and sits down on the opposite side of the table. He leans back in the chair and crosses his arms.
“What brings you here?”

Solaron lifts his head, looking at the human. His forked tongue tasted the air and his head tilts. "Your new secret weapon will not be enough to stop him." Solaron saids regretfully.
"... Secret... weapon?" Neil attempts to hide the surprise in his voice.
Solaron nodds. "You have a secret weapon, don't you?" The red reptile says, taking his eyes back down and looking at his cuffs, making them rattle. "Every race before you has had one. Ultimate Death Killer this, Super Kill Bot that." He hissed, "All have fallen."
Neil pulled out the chair on the opposite side of the table, making the legs screech on the floor before he himself took a seat. "Why are you here?"
Solaron's tongue flicks the air again. "You can relax." He assures the human, "I mean you, nor your race, any harm. I'm here to help you."
Neil stares holes through Solaron's skull. "Prove it."
Solaron grins and lifts his head. The metal cuffs on his hands begin to burn brightly. Steam begins to rise from it and soon the metal starts to liquify, bubbling on the table as the heat generated by the fire lizard melts the cuffs. Within seconds, Solaron lifts his now-free hands and cracks his knuckles. "If I wanted you dead, you'd be dead now. We don't have much time, and I'd prefer if we just skip the hostility bullshit until the real battle begins."
The human crosses his arms across his chest. “Before, not one of YOUR kind has shown any sort of remorse or care for our kind. Why should we for you.”
Solaron sighs and rolls his eyes. “The ignorance of your species is outstanding.” He declares, “Is it not your kind that will destroy an entire ecosystem for a…” He paused, thinking of what humans called them “Parking lots?” He hisses, “Your species is violent between itself, you can’t even know what’s friend or foe.”
“We know you’re the enemy now.”
Solaron nods his head. “You know Saberon is the enemy now.” He declares, “My species is no less dangerous on its own as yours without a dictator.” He lifts his hand, “And Saberon isn’t your only enemy. A Grand Alliance has been made, there is more than one race falling on your world.”
Neil responds, “The Shadows.”
Solaron hisses, “They are not us.” He responds, “They will fall after you if this war can’t be stopped.”

"And how, exactly, do you suggest we accomplish that? Your kind doesn't strike me as very open to peaceful negotiations."

“An alliance between our kinds is not destined yet.” Solaron hisses, “You have a much bigger, much stronger threat right now than these dinky Shadows.”
“Dinky… Shadows?” Neal responds, “Have you seen these things!?”
Solaron chuckles, “You think a cyborg zombie and some demon dogs are bad? Some kaiju hybrids?” He shrugs, “Blaradon.” He responds, “The best of Klenthurian technology merged with the ruthlessness of half a dozen other species. It can, and it will, defeat you unless…”
“Unless what?”
“I help you.”

Neil raises and eyebrow. "I'm listening."

Solaron hissed. “Your opponent isn’t like anything you’ve faced before.” He said, “Blaradon makes Tormata look like a pushover in comparison.” Solaron stood up, cracking his neck with a pop as he looked into the two-way mirror. “I know there’s more of you behind that mirror, so what I am about to say will go for you all also.”
Solaron paused for a few moments before continuing. “I have killed hundreds.” He confessed, “Families. Males. Females. Children. You name it. My kind is a species that is determined to survive no matter the cost. All that we do is for survival. We don’t feel guilt and we don’t feel sorrow. Normally, we don’t feel pity either. If you can’t stand your own, then you are destined to fall. We have stood on our own for almost a century now.”
“Then why are you here with us?” Neil said, looking back at the mirror and then Solaron.
”Decades of ruining worlds for own good as taken a toll on our leader’s mind, Saberon. He was hero once, had great ideals. Great plans, and he lifted our kind out of the mess it once was. But he couldn’t stop, our kind couldn’t. Once we declared war on the universe, that was it. You are either with us or against us. They don’t need humans with us. Your technology is low. Your instincts are low. You fight amongst yourselves over the smallest of things. You obey a system of rules that is nothing but double standards and against your natural evolution.”
“Then WHY are you here?” Neil said, more aggravated than anything now.
Solaron lowered his head and flicked his tongue. “Because you have potential to be great. You’re the only race in ALL the universe to have such diversity as a species. While this makes great conflict, no other race has such different beliefs, languages, etcetera. Your race, by normal, should be much farther along, but Saberon, as well as the rest of this Alliance, ignores the fact that humanity is structured much different than any other. I can’t let this happen.”
“Then help us defeat the invasion.”
Solaron sat back down and placed his hands on the table. “I will help you defeat Blaradon. That will give you a fighting chance.”

"If this thing is as tough as you say, any help you could give would be appreciated."

Solaron sneered and reached to his side. A clang was heard as a piece of metal opened up on his the metal plate on his though. He brought up his hands, waving a disk, much like that of Earth’s own CDs.

Neil raises an eyebrow as Solaron waves the disc. The man stands up and walks toward the door, motioning for Solaron and the guards to follow. He leads them to the main control room, where he takes the CD from the reptile and hands it to one of the technicians.
“Load this up.”
“Uhh... are you sure about that, sir?”
“Nope. But do it anyway.”
The technician shrugs and puts the disc into the drive. After a couple seconds, blueprints show up on the monitor.
“Seems okay.”
“Put it up on the main screen.”
The technician does so.
“Alright, Mr...” Neil looks over at the reptile.
“Solaron.”
“...Solaron, what are we looking at?”

Solaron’s tongue licks the air before he answers. “Blaradon.” He answers the human. The image on the screen begins to overlap the blue print with a model of the weapon. “The ravager of galaxies.” He hisses, “You need to band your forces together to defeat it, and even then, victory is not guaranteed unless you destroy its power generators.”
“And where are they?” Neil asks, looking at the image.
“Under the wings.”

“So in order to destroy the generators, we have to first destroy the wings.”
“Correct.”
“And of course the skeleton is made from some ridiculously tough alien alloy, right?”
“Wouldn’t be much of a superweapon if not.”
Neil sighs. “Figures.”

Solaron hissed and nodded his head. "Destroying those generators won't be easy." He hissed, "Those wings are energized and made to burn through the toughest of materials in seconds. You'll have to draw him into using the wings as spears."
"How big is this thing...?" Neil asked, admiring the image as it began to flesh out.
Solaron crossed his arms. "Big enough." He said, "You will need to get your people together. Bring in a joint assault. You won't defeat him without a pre-planned, coordinated attack."
"Jericho." The human muttered just enough for Solaron to hear.
The reptile nodded his head no. "Saberon won't risk losing this power again. You need to distract the alliance with whatever power you have. If Blaradon is unleashed, and joined by other alliance monsters, your kind will have no hope."

Neil rubs his chin. "Hmm. I'll have to talk with the rest of the GDF to set up the plan of attack. Maybe use our own mechs to fight Blaradon while we send Jericho to destroy their base." After looking over the representation on the screen for a few more seconds, Neil speaks up again. "Aside from the wings, what other weapons does it have?"

Solaron nodded his head, crossed his arms, and waved his tail. "The better question is what weapons doesn't it have?"
