A giant of giants stood within the darkened environment. Fountains of sparks fall from its frame as countless machines buzzed on its limbs. Garan leaned over the edge of the balcony, his flat, forked tongue lashed out as a gentle breeze whipped his cape to the side. “So…”
“Powerful.” Saberon’s voice cut in from behind the spiky reptile, “Massive. Godly. We’ll kill the humans, then this new dark force, and finally the rest of these morons that call this planet as their own”
Garan hissed. “I was going for pointless.”
Saberon’s brow twitched. “Was expecting you to say overkill.”
Garan didn’t crack a smile at Saberon’s joke. In the distance, Rosie roared loudly. “So what pour soul will you test this on?”
The reptile lord hissed and shrugged. “Manticore, probably. Time to get rid of the weak links here. The anticipation of using this beautiful machine is killing me.”
Garan lowered his snout and turned around. “Some would call that a blessing.” The reptile declared, walking past his master.
Saberon didn’t turn to face him. “And those that do don’t last long.” He retorted, just barely turning his head to look at the walking Garan. The reptile stopped for just a second before continuing on, back into the central tower of the Lizard’s Nest.
The robotic form of Blaradon suddenly came to life. Red orbs of burning energy flashed, now activated. They rotated in its eye sockets and zoomed in on Saberon. Its arm lifted up, sending a constructing platform crashing to the ground with the screams of those standing on it. The machine let out an unearthly roar, shaking the entire base. Various screams from other monsters returned his, including Rosie.
Garan walked downstairs, hissing as he passed various Klenthurian workers. Walking down the stairs, he passed a spiky one much like himself. “The humans don’t know what they’re in for, huh?” It said as he and Garan passed one another.
The forked tongue of Garan again lashed out in annoyance as he walked down. Soon he found himself in the doctor’s lab, but it was empty. Rudolph was busy with this and that, working on Blaradon mostly. Images of past wars flashed before his eyes as he leaned forward, gripping the metal table.
His head began to sway back and forth, side to side as his upper lip curled. He reached forward, grabbing a glass cylinder and, with a blood thirsty yell, threw it forward. The glass object smashed through a black plate of glass, sending it to the floor where it shattered into thousands of pieces.
The reptile then heard it. It was a bark, a sort of growl. His spiky head lifted, looking into the darkness as a sudden flash of electricity flickered. A puppy’s head emerged from the darkness. It let out a yelp and leaped out of the pen and landed on the table. It had the head of a puppy, but two small nubs decorated its skull. Small wings also rested on its back, its hind legs were hoofed, and a small crocodile tail waved happily. It opened its jaws, releasing another bark as a spark flew out from the nubs on its head.
The doors of the room suddenly burst open as two soldiers rushed in, pointing their weapons at the reptile and small animal. “Another one of the doctor’s mutations!” The soldier said, “Kill it.”
Garan spun around sharply. “I will rip out your heart if you try.”
The small pup leaped forward, barking at the two guards as they lowered their weapons. Suddenly Rudolph appeared behind the two reptiles. “So much for the big surprise.” He complained, squeezing between the two.
The animal began to growl.
Garan looked back at the small creature. “Bad animal.” The doctor said, “Already bit me twice.”
The reptile turned around, reaching out for the small puppy. The furry animal cuddled into the Klenthurian’s rough arms. Rudolph tilted his head, “Strange.” He replied.
Garan moved past the reptile and the two guards spread, allowing Garan out. No sooner than exiting, Saberon greeted him. “Going somewhere?”
“Out.” Garan replied as the puppy barked. “I want out of this circus.”
“Circus?” Saberon hissed.
“That’s what I’d call your show. A circus. I’m done. I quit.”
Saberon’s lip curled. “You don’t quit.” He replied, “You die!” The tyrant lashed out, catching the other off guard and making him drop the pup. The small animal ducked for shelter under a table in the hallway.
Garan swung out, smashing a clenched fist into Saberon’s jaw, making the lord stumble back. His head rolled and eyes widened. “What are you doing!?” Rudolph shouted, emerging from the lab.
“Having one hell of a good fight.” Saberon replied, spinning around and lashing out with a whip-like blow from his tail. Garan ducked, allowing the tail to strike the wall, making a booming twang as it bounced off the metal.
Garan stepped back and hissed as he fell to the floor, keeping one palm on the floor. As Saberon spun around again, Garan leaped, crashing full-force onto Saberon. The two knocked Rudolph to the ground before crashing into the lab. They landed on the table, sending it tumbling to the floor as glass containers of chemical spilt around them.
Rudolph managed to stand up and rushed into the lab. “Stop them!” He declared, grabbing one of the guard’s arms and pointing it at the pair of fighters, “Those chemicals will ignite!”
The two guards looked at one another before moving in. As Saberon lifted his fist, bringing it down on Garan’s bloody skull, the two guards reached down, pulling Saberon off. “Sir!” They shouted, pointing as two streams of chemicals met and began to burn. Garan shook his head and hissed before realizing what happened.
With a shake of his arms, Saberon freed himself of the guards. Garan stood up, growling as fire danced around his ankles. “Now you die.” Saberon sneered, jumping up and spinning. His tail smashed into Garan’s chest, sending the reptile flying back. The creature cried aloud as his body smashed into one of Dr. Ackert’s shelves. The chemicals fell on him like rain as the shelves gave way, sending dozens of glass bottles and canisters shattering on his head.
“MY LAB!” Rudolph cried loudly as Garan’s form was engulfed in the fire.
Saberon wiped a trickle of blood from his jaws. “Dead now aren’t you, you son of a bitch.”
The puppy emerged from its hiding, its eyes reflecting the burning inferno within the lab…….
