Carcharius had been tracking a pod of whales when he came across this landmass. Although he could still sense the massive cluster of animals, they were getting farther and farther away...and the beast and smelled something new, something potentially juicier.
The coastal regions gave way to swampy lowlands. Although the water was too shallow to properly submerge, the amphibian had no trouble adapting to the open air. The foliage here was dense and overgrown, with giant mangroves and other such plants polluting the water with their intricate root systems. And there was movement here, but more importantly, blood. Carcharius hungrily tore through the tangle of plants as eh neared the source of his fixation.
A swarm of Ravagers was busy trying to make a meal of a Whopper, something the larger fish was vehemntly opposed to. It thrashed and wriggled, trying so hard to escape the swarm. But it was no use, and the waters were stained with its blood. It was this blood that had attracted Carcharius to the site in the first place, and the Ravagers were not too keen on sharing. With the advent of this new food source, a portion of the swarm broke off and headed for Carcharius. They thought themselves the superiors in this engagement. They were sadly mistaken.
Carcharius bellowed in hunger as he clamped his jaws down on the first fish in range, crushing its spine before tearing a bloody hunk of flesh fromt he wound, leaving little behind. The other ravagers swarmed over Carcharius' ankles, nibbling and biting, trying hard to take their prey down. But the amphibian was not deterred and tore them asunder with his gigantic talons, sending ribbons of flesh and blood into the pool where he now battled. The rest of the swarm broke off from the dead Whopper and homed in on Carcharius, as the genetically altered shark hybrid tore their compatriots apart one at a time. With each new corpse that littered the area or lined the amphibian's gullet, a new fish seemed to take its place. But no matter what they did, they seemed unable to conquer Carcharius' regenerative functions, as the wounds they inflicted healed over in moments, while the shark seemed to only increase in strength.
The scent of blood was intoxicating, and Carcharius roared in a mixture of hunger and fury, the blood rage consuming his focus. All that existed now was the smell of prey, as the nerve endings in his body shut down pain receptors, as horomones flooded his body, and as all else gave way to frenzy. The swarm clung tenaciously to Carcharius, attempting to overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers. The shark's blood mingled freely with those of his prey, but hsi wounds did not last, as he tore more of the Ravager swarm apart with a combination of slashing talons and crushing fangs. He stabbed out with the fin on his tail, impaling a Ravager like a bladed scorpion sting, before flinging the unfortunate fish into a stand of trees.
The swarm began to diminish in size, before the survivors thought better of their would-be meal and made a break for it, escaping into shallower water where the shark could not reasonbly be expected to follow. Carcharius bellowed again, his wounds closing up once again, as he began to feast on the corpses of the fallen. Soon, he would have eaten his fill and he would move on again, only to stop to feed again. But such was his existance, and he spared not a moment to reflect upon it. The shredded remains of the Ravager swarm floated in the swampy expanse as Carcharius sated his hunger...for now.
