The Imar Science base is swarming with activity, particularly around the runway in preparation for the arrival of the MTA. Four MADROCs are positioned just off to the side of the runway, a large flatbed-like object behind them. Caitlyn and Theraga are waiting as well. The squadron of Phalanxes landed some time ago and were already back in their hangars.
Caitlyn walks over to one of the mechs and yells. “How much longer ‘till they get here?”
“ETA 10 minutes.” is the response from the pilot.
Caitlyn turns and walks off with a sigh. Sure enough, the MTA comes into view and lands about 10 minutes later. As the cargo bay door opens, Jason almost immediately emerges and starts yelling at the gathering. “Get the sled over here!” Two of the MADROCs pull the flatbed over to the aircraft while the other two maneuver it at the rear. “Theraga! You too!” The kaiju snorts and bounds over to the craft. “We need you to push Sucho onto the sled, okay?” Theraga nods and gets into the cargo hold. As he begins to push the unconscious Suchodon toward the doorway, Caitlyn finally makes it over to the aircraft. She gasps and covers her mouth upon seeing the full extent of Suchodon’s condition.
With the four MADROCs holding the sled in place, Theraga pushes Suchodon out of the cargo hold, the reptile rolling limply down the short ramp and onto the sled. The scorpion-like mechs then begin hauling the sled off toward the hangar which the monster resides in. Jason walks down the ramp, stopping next to Caitlyn.
“Will... he be okay?” she asks.
“I don’t know.” is his solemn response.
“Did you guys win?”
“Not really. But their monsters are in equally bad shape.”
A few silent moments pass as they watch the MADROCs maneuver the sled into the hangar, at which point Neil drives up.
“Come on. Let’s get the debriefing over with.”
Jason nods slightly. “Yeah.” As he gets into the jeep, he looks over at Caitlyn. “You and Theraga stay with Suchodon, okay?”
“Um... sure.”
With that, the two men drive off toward the main building.
“Tell the crews I want samples taken of all the blood, both on Suchodon and in the MTA. Some of it’s bound to be from the other monsters. Check for any tissue on his teeth and claws, too. I want to know what we’re up against.” says Jason, staring directly ahead.
“Right.”

Almost an hour later, Jason enters Suchodon’s hangar. All the blood has been cleaned from the kaiju by now. Thanks to his body’s ability to close off blood vessels at the site of wounds, blood loss isn’t an issue and bandages aren’t needed. A tube has been put down his throat to feed pure oxygen to his lungs, while various monitors are hooked up to keep track of his heart rate, breathing, and other such data. A monster-sized IV drip has been inserted into his arm.
Jason walks over to one of the doctors. “Well?”
“He should pull through, but he’s going to be out of commission for quite a while.”
Jason lets out a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”
“Oh, we collected blood samples per your request, as well as some tissue off his teeth and claws. They’ve already been sent off to the lab, so we should have the results in the next couple days.”
“Thanks.”
