Cincinnati –
The streets weren’t filled for once. Everyone was at home. School was canceled. Workers called off to be with their families. The recent events that shook the world also hit here, making many afraid to go out. While some folk still walked down the sidewalks or drove in the streets, it wasn’t even a third as busy as it usually was. Normally kids could be seen running up and down the streets, cars would be honking, etc. Not today.
When a flash came roughly 50 feet above the street, not a soul noticed. It flashed again, changing colors from purple to green to pink. Sparks, matching the colors, began to fall before a figure fell, limbs flailing like tentacles on an squid.
Splat!
The human landed face first, his limbs sprawled out to the side. A loud, screeching scream came from the flash as another scream followed. The figure below, dressed in jet black leather and a trench coat with rainbow colored hair, groaned as the other man fell onto him, catching himself mid-fall and coming down with combat boots driving deep into his spines.
“Damn it!” The first human cursed. “Get off!”
The other looked down, half-grinning as he forced his foot down harder before stepping off. “Great job.” He declared, looking around, “We’re in no where. Again.”
Milenko shook his head and spat a wad of sparkling spit as he stood up. Brushing off his black, star-decorated shirt, his eyes glared and he shrugged. “Oops.”
Demortis spun around, “Oops? OOPS!?”
Milenko continued looking around. “Yeah. Oops.” He turned his sparking eyes back to face his co-demon, “Told you I never did that before.”
The two walked out of the middle of the street where Milenko quickly began to pick at the white flesh of his hand. Turning a corner, the two didn’t speak to one another, only absorbed their surroundings. “LOOK MOM! A CLOWN!” A little girl suddenly shouted from the other side of the street, bouncing up and down and pointing as she laughed.
The demon let out a low growl before looking around, noticing the little girl and her mom were the only ones within noticeable sight. Demortis continued walking forward as the clown quickly dashed across the street.
The mom smiled at the clown demon. “Clown?” He asked, looking down at the little girl, making her giggle as his bright red lips made a large smile. “Do you want to see a magic trick, little girl?” He asked, flicking his wrist and making his wand appear.
The girl nodded as her mom laughed. He wiggled the wand lifted his other hand lifted, its index finger waving once as he spun around. The little girl laughed joyously as the clown’s head shook and the wand touched his forehead.
“Ready?” He asked with a cheeky giggle.
“YES!” She squeaked.
With laughter, Milenko spun around. The girl and her mom’s joy ended, replaced with terror as the true face of the demon looked at them. Frog-like in shape with black, overlapping scales, empty white eyes, and dagger-like teeth, the demon roared. The mother and daughter both screamed before the young girl’s mother quickly grabbed her daughter by the arm and took off running. White mist came from the demon’s jaws as he rubbed the palm of his hand over his demonic image. His pale white flesh began to return.
Stuffing his wand into his pocket, he turned on his heel. He quickly jumped back, spooked by Demortis standing behind him with arms folded and foot tapping. “What!?” The clown declared, “I hate kids.”
”Yet you choose a damn clown.” Demortis scoffed.
“I like clowns.” He said, “Now come on, I have an idea on how to reach this Death God.”
“Not another asinine insane plot.”
”Maaaaaybe.” The clown giggled.
