About half hour after making contact, the Harpy reaches the coast, with Suchodon and Theraga just a short distance behind. The aircraft continues out over the water and lands on the massive transport ship which is anchored several hundred meters offshore. Sitting parallel to the shoreline, “Imar Science” is emblazoned in huge blue letters across its side. Four Adams, one with a 200mm cannon, one with a sniper rifle, and the other two with beam rifles, stand on the deck, keeping an eye out for any Lawless Zone residents that decide to get curious.
Suchodon wades out into the water, Theraga following shortly after. He walks around to the rear of the ship, where a huge ramp has folded down. Suchodon steps up onto the ramp and into the cargo hold, which takes up nearly the entire 500-foot length and 150-foot width of the ship. The hold lacks a roof over all but the front quarter or so, over which the bridge and aircraft deck sit. Once Suchodon enters, Theraga again follows. The two Adams standing on either side of the rear of the ship eye the monster as he enters. The ramp lifts up, closing the entrance behind him. A moment later, a voice calls out from above them.
“Hey Sucho!” It’s Jason, waving from the walkway behind the bridge that overlooks the cargo hold. Suchodon steps over to him and puts his nose up to the man. He closes his eyes and purrs as Jason pats the end of his snout. “Who’s your buddy? Looks like you two ran into something pretty nasty out there.” At this point, Jason spots Caitlyn, whom had gone unnoticed amongst Theraga’s mane up until now. “What the hell? Hey miss! What are you going down there!?”
Caitlyn lets out a sigh before responding. “It’s a long story.”
“Well you can explain later. Let’s get you inside. Use the ladder over there.”
Theraga lays down next to the ladder, allowing Caitlyn to jump and grab one of the rungs and climb up to the walkway that runs along one side of the ship. She makes her way over to Jason. He opens the door and motions for her to come in. The entire bottom floor is a cafeteria.
“Come on. Get yourself cleaned up and get something to eat. We’ll talk then.”
“Thanks.”
Jason leads Caitlyn up to the second floor. “The showers are over there. I’ll see if I can get one of the women to lend you a change of clothes.” Caitlyn nods and heads off to the showers while Jason goes up the stairs to the bridge. Once getting there, he walks over to one of the technicians, a young woman with long, black hair. “Hey Sarah, can you spare a change of clothes for our guest?”
“Yeah, sure.”
“Cool. She’s in the shower now.”
“Alright, I’ll take her some clothes.”
“Thanks Sarah. I’ll take over here until you get back.” With that, Sarah gets up and goes downstairs, and Jason takes her seat. “Alright, let’s get the hell out of here.”
Within minutes, the ship is heading away from the Lawless Zone. When Sarah returns, Jason gives her her seat back. Eventually, the island disappears from view entirely. The four Adams go to the flight deck at the front of the ship and power down, their pilots exiting the cockpits and coming inside. About half an hour after their departure, Jason figures Caitlyn is out of the shower. He heads down to the cafeteria, looking out the windows along the stairwell at the two monsters in the cargo hold. They’re both sleeping, Suchodon with his back toward the front of the ship and his neck curled to the side, and Theraga somewhat curled up neck to Suchodon’s tail where there’s more room. Jason can’t help but smile and give a slight chuckle at the sight. Despite the massive size of the ship, the hold is still a bit cramped for two monsters.
Once he gets down to the cafeteria, he sees Caitlyn sitting at a table with plate stacked high with food. “Well, looks like someone was hungry.” He sits down across from her and leans back in his chair. “So... tell me about yourself and your very large Gorgonopsid friend out there.”
