(OOC: This is a fight between me and TG. No interference)
Shortly after taking off from Imar, Pavoroc senses another portal opening a couple hundred miles to the northwest. The creature is a powerful one. He banks and accelerates, heading straight for it.
Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Georgia, a Hound Master has unleashed several Hellhounds and Shadow Hounds upon the city. As the canine demons disperse and wreck their own havoc, the Hound Master begins demolishing the surrounding structures. It plunges its fist through the side of a building, then rips it out, making the structure crumble. Another building goes down shortly thereafter as the demon’s flaming whip tears through it.
The demon continues to tear a swath of destruction through the city for the next several minutes when suddenly it’s struck from behind by an energy beam and knocked to the ground. The Hound Master rolls over just in time to be struck again, this time by numerous bolts of electricity as Pavoroc passes over it.
As he comes around to make another pass, a Hellhound leaps up from the buildings to his side in an attempt to pounce on him. Pavoroc barely takes notice, not even deviating from his course as he blasts it back with bolts of electricity. Next, a Shadow Hound leaps up directly in front of him, whooping like a hyena. Pavoroc deftly twists and catches the beast in his talons in mid-air, using his inertia to spin it around and hurl it at another Hellhound that has leapt at him. He watches as the two canids crash to the ground in a twisted heap before dissipating. This proves to be a mistake as the Hound Master’s flaming whip lashes around his neck. He squawks and furiously flaps his wings in an attempt to fight it, but the demon is strong and starts to reel him in. A second Shadow Hound leaps at him, only to be fried by dozens of bolts of electricity. Finally, he fires his Rainbow Beam at the Hound Master, blasting it back and freeing himself from its whip.
With a shrill cry, Pavoroc quickly ascends to get out of the whip’s range. In doing so, he spots yet another Shadow Hound skulking between the buildings. A moment later it’s destroyed by his Rainbow Beam. The Hound Master takes to the air in pursuit of Pavoroc, but the bird quickly proves much faster and more agile. He rolls over onto his back, slowing down and allowing the demon to pass over him, raking his talons down its body in the process. As the Shadow creature howls in pain, Pavoroc rights himself and catches up to it, this time tearing into its back with his talons and beak. Again the demon cries out in pain before Pavoroc sends it crashing to the ground with a point-blank shot of his Rainbow Beam. He immediately begins readying another, this time charging it to its maximum before unleashing it. The beam, now nearly twice the size of normal, slams into the Hound Master and instantly engulfs it in a large explosion, utterly vaporizing it.
He hovers over the city for a few seconds, searching for the final Shadow creature he senses. He spots a Hellhound trying to slink away unnoticed. With a hawk-like scream, he swoops down on the dog-like demon, sinking his talons into it as he pins it to the ground. He raises his head high and lets out another scream before swinging it back down and caving the demon’s skull in with a blow from his beak. As the Hellhound disappears from under his feet, Pavoroc touches down on the pavement. The Shadow creatures are all dead, but something is telling him to stay. Suddenly, a chill shoots through his spine. It’s the same as what he sensed a week ago in Rio de Janeiro, except this time it’s not on the other side of the world. It’s... right here.

Pavoroc gazes upward in time to see darkness forming within the sky. A massive portal tears open and the saintly bird stares in horror as a horrific face tears through the darkness, baring its massive teeth.
"HEEEEEREEEE'S AZY!"
Azrael tears through the portal and crashes down onto the ground. The tremor stirs Pavoroc... He can tell this is the source of great power that he felt. And for the first time in ages, he felt a strange feeling. His normally stoic mind was uneasy, and he immediately recognized what was rushing through him.
Fear.
"Why hello there little bird! Care for some fireworks?"
Pavoroc took off upon hearing this and barely avoid a massive flare up of shadow energies from where he had been standing. Multiple bursts of shadow energy shot up from the ground, destroying anything in their path. Buildings toppled over as the seemingly volcanic activity of darkness spread throughout the city. Azrael let out a cackle and spread his wings, enjoying the absolute chaos he had just created.
"I am Azrael. I am the bringer of death. I am His avatar of war... I am Death's Shadow."

(OOC: Also, for anyone unfamiliar with it, chiaroscuro is a term for art that puts heavy emphasis on the contrast between light and dark.)
“YOU ARE NOTHING!”
Pavoroc dives at Azrael, firing his Rainbow Beam. The monster roars and stumbles back as the beam slams into his chest and explodes, but immediately counters by firing a Fel Beam at the bird. Pavoroc rolls to avoid the beam before firing bolts from his wings. Azrael snarls as he’s struck again, and again he fires his Fel Beam. This time Pavoroc is too close and can’t dodge it, and squawks as he’s struck before veering away.
As he circles Azrael, Pavoroc quickly notices that the beast is having trouble keeping up with him.
“Ahaha, a little slow, are you? Well then, let’s see if you can keep up with this!”
With a flap of his wings, the bird accelerates. Knowing he can’t keep up, Azrael simply turns the opposite way and fires his Fel Beam to strike Pavoroc as he comes around... but all he hits is empty sky.
The move was simply a feint on Pavoroc’s part, and an instant later the bird slams talons-first into the back of Azrael’s skull. The demon roars in surprise and pain as the impact knocks him to the ground with a series of fresh gashes on his head. After passing over his foe, Pavoroc whips around and unleashes his Rainbow Beam at the downed monster.

Darkness forms all around Azrael, creating a shield that takes the entire attack. Pavoroc cuts off the attack, and the shield shatters, darkness dispersing all around the demon. Azrael slowly rises to his feet and spreads his wings, letting out a massive bellow. Pavoroc is taken by surprise as Azrael accelerates forward into flight, grabbing the bird by the throat and charging forward through the air with him. Azrael begins to rotate his body as they barrel through the sky, spinning them both. Suddenly Azrael lets go of Pavoroc, launching the bird directly into a building.
Azrael cackles as the colorful avian crashes into the building, debris falling on top of him. The demon found it funny that the bird thought he was just a lumbering brute. He may not be a Tinkerbell in the sky, but Azrael can reach surprising speeds. The demon begins to charge shadow energy in his hands and launches them at the debris. Suddenly, Pavoroc bursts out from the rubble, avoiding the attacks and following up with a counter. Bolts of lightning rake across Azrael, causing him to roar in rage. Random surges of electricity dance about the demon's body as Pavoroc circles overhead.
"I don't need speed to catch you. Let the cold grasp of death do that!"
Pavoroc is shocked as a massive, demonic hand of pure darkness suddenly rises from the ground and goes directly for the bird. Pavoroc does a barrel roll, avoiding the attack... But he doesn't realize that another hand had formed. The arm reaches up with demonic claws extended, grabbing the surprised guardian within its massive grasp. Azrael snickers as the arm goes higher into the air and rears back, then suddenly shoots back down to the ground, smashing Pavoroc directly into the concrete. The bird cries out as pain shoots throughout his entire body while the darkness dissipates.
"Down already huh? Man, and I was just getting started! I guess I'll just have to stomp you further into the ground!"
Azrael charges forward to the downed bird, who is struggling to rise up and into flight. It's too late for him to take off though, and Azrael smashes his foot into the bird's back, applying enough pressure to make it as painful as possible, but not enough to break Pavoroc in half. The demon wanted him to suffer.
Azrael opens his mouth, preparing to fire a Fel Beam at point blank range...

The attack never comes, however, as Pavoroc spreads his wings and train and unleashes a blinding flash. Azrael throws his head back and roars, the charging beam dissipating in his mouth before he topples over backwards. The bird quickly gets up and blasts the stunned demon with his Rainbow Beam. He’s airborne again with a few flaps of his wings just as Azrael begins to regain control of his body. Still blinded, Azrael fires his Fel Beam randomly, sweeping it around in an attempt to strike his opponent. Of course this fails, and Pavoroc rains his bolts down on him before flying away.
By the time Azrael’s vision clears a few seconds later, Pavoroc has seemingly disappeared.
“Running away so soon? That’s a shame. Oh well, I suppose I can’t blame him, though I would have expected more from the great hero.”
“It won’t be that easy, demon!”
Azrael turns toward the voice, only to receive a Rainbow Beam to the face. He roars and stumbles back, but quickly retaliates with a Shadow Orb. The orb impacts Pavoroc’s wing and explodes, nearly knocking him out of the sky. The bird quickly regains his composure though, and fires his Rainbow Beam again.

Azrael bellows as the beam smashes into his chest, causing him to stumble backwards. The demon growls, but then a grin comes across his face. He begins to laugh as darkness begins to cover his hands.
"Let the shadows whip you into submission!"
Suddenly, all around Pavoroc, whips of darkness rise from the ground and shoot up towards the guardian. Pavoroc pulls off as many tricks as he can to dodge them, but there are too many. Eventually, one of the whips manages to catch his leg and hold him in place. The rest of the whips converge, lashing out wildly at the avian monster. The assault stops and they all wrap around the bird in a tight embrace and begin to descend to the ground at high speeds.
Pavoroc cannot do anything as his body is smashed into the ground, the whips dissipating upon impact. Azrael walks over to the battered bird, observing the small, but numerous cuts laced into the raptor's body. He grins wickedly and grabs Pavoroc's head and left wing. He roars and sinks his teeth into Pavoroc's neck. Blood begins to trickle onto the guardian's feathers as the bird lets out a horrible cry of pain. A blinding flash of light soon causes Azrael to release his grip, with Pavoroc retaliating by smacking him across the face with his wing.
As Pavoroc tries to take off so close to Azrael, the demon fires his Fel Beam blindly, hoping to strike the raptor where he had last tasted his blood...

The Fel Beam hits its mark, nearly knocking Pavoroc down again. But he manages to stay airborne and ascends to give himself some room to breathe, striking the demon with his electrical bolts in the process.
By the time Azrael’s vision returns, Pavoroc is already high in the sky. As he prepares to fire another beam, the bird spreads his wings and train. Azrael quickly covers his eyes in anticipation of another flash, only to roar in pain and drop to a knee as he’s simultaneously struck by both a Rainbow Beam and dozens of bolts of electricity.
With his frustration growing, Azrael opens fire with a barrage of Fel Beams and Shadow Orbs. Pavoroc first rolls to avoid a beam, then immediately after intercepts a Shadow Orb with his electrical bolts. Another orb follows, which Pavoroc “hops” over with a quick flap from his wings. Then another Fel Beam is countered by a Rainbow Beam. After a couple more beams and orbs are either artfully dodged or intercepted by the bird’s own attacks, Azrael’s frustration reaches the breaking point and he lets loose a tremendous roar.
Just as Pavoroc had wanted him to do.
A charged Rainbow Beam slams into Azrael’s open mouth, though the sheer size of the beam engulfs his head entirely, and the demon is sent rolling backwards head over heels. He comes to rest on his stomach after one and three quarters full rotations, his entire head smoking. Not waiting for his foe to show any signs of movement, Pavoroc fires both his Rainbow Beam and electrical bolts again.

A shield of darkness once again rose up to protect the demon, blocking the ranged attacks. As the shadows dissipated, Azrael stood with his head slung down. Pavoroc cocked his head to the side, wondering what would happen next.
He didn't have to wait long.
"GRRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
Azrael shot his head up as his left arm shot outwards from his side, and an absolutely massive pillar of twisted energy erupted from the ground, engulfing nearly a quarter of the city. As Pavoroc stared in horror, the energy faded, and disappeared. Nothing but a crater was left in the area. Everything was destroyed; nothing remained... Nothing lived.
Pavoroc was suddenly nailed by a Fel Beam in his shocked state, nearly knocking the bird out of the sky. The bird regained its stature of flight after barely missing the ground, but it noticed something was following him... And it wasn't Azrael. A massive, black cobra of darkness with blazing red eyes was pursuing the avian, who dodged the cobra's first strike. A cloud of dust was kicked up as the snake smashed its head into the ground, and as Pavoroc glanced back, the snake had not emerged from the debris cloud. If a bird could crack a smile, he'd be doing so now.
Until he turned his head. The cobra struck, grabbing the bird in its massive jaws. Pavoroc struggled to free itself as the snake headed directly for the ground, but it was no use. The bird was smashed into the ground, and as the cobra disappeared into the ground, the remainder of is body surged through Pavoroc, shocking the raptor with corrupted energies. Azrael chuckled and began walking towards the downed bird.
"Aww, did that hurt?"
"You're quite the cocky one."
Azrael howled in pain as a beam of electricity struck his shoulder. Pavoroc was down, but he could still attack. Azrael, however, was not very fond of the assault. He charged forward and jumped into the air, flipping himself so that his back would smash into Pavoroc. The avian screeched as the spines lacing the demon's dug into his flesh.
"Pardon me, but you're not very comfortable to lie down on..."
Azrael began to get up, attempting to cause even more pain by tearing flesh as his spines left Pavoroc's body...

Pavoroc squawks in pain as Azrael’s spines tear out of his body. Once he’s up, the demon turns around to face the fallen bird.
“Well that was fun, but it looks like this fight is over now.”
Much to Azreal’s surprise, though, Pavoroc begins to stir, rising to his feet a couple moments later.
“Oh, I’ve only just begun, demon. Now that you’ve practically leveled the city, there’s not much point in me holding back any longer. Prepare to taste the full extent of my powers!”
The bird quickly raises and spreads his train, unleashing a Rainbow Barrage. Azrael roars in pain as numerous colored spheres slam into him, pelting him in rapid succession, each one driving him backwards a couple feet. The spheres are coming at him so quickly and in such numbers that he can’t bring up his shield. After a full minute, Pavoroc ceases the assault, allowing Azrael, who is now around 200 meters back from where he started, to fall forward, smoke rising from his body.
With a shrill cry and a flap of his wings, Pavoroc is airborne. “Oh, and I know your other weakness now, too. Your body can barely contain the massive power you possess. You have to be careful about how much you use those Shadow manipulation abilities. That attack you used to destroy the city put incredible strain on you. You could barely control that serpent you created afterward. Don’t deny it; I could sense the power within you straining as you used them. Even now you’re feeling it. If you keep exerting yourself like that, I have a feeling you’ll get some sort of backlash. An overload, perhaps? Maybe you should use your powers some more so we can find out!”
By now, Azrael has begun to get up. “Now who’s the cocky one?” he growls.
Pavoroc merely smirks and starts flapping his wings, kicking up tremendous winds. Chunks of rubble are sent hurling toward Azrael and shattering against his hide as he struggles to keep his footing. Despite this, Azrael begins to laugh.
“You’ve got to be kidding me! THIS is the supposed ‘full extent’ of your powers?! Some pathetic wi-”
He suddenly stops and his eyes grow wide as a gash forms on the side of his face, followed by another on his thigh, and another on his arm. Cut after cut appears all over the demon’s body, each one streaming blood into the winds.
Eventually Azrael has enough of the assault and launches himself at Pavoroc with a roar. Unlike before, Pavoroc is prepared for the demon’s speed this time. Just before Azrael collides with him, Pavoroc rolls over, reaching up with his feet and gripping Azrael’s chest, burying his talons deep in the flesh. Despite the bird only weighing a third that of Azrael, his stationary inertia is enough to alter the demon’s trajectory. Pavoroc only hangs on for a fraction of a second, just long enough for them to rotate about 90 degrees. His speed hardly affected by the brief interaction, Azrael continues... face-first into the ground. The impact is tremendous. A mushroom cloud of dust and debris is thrown into the air, and the buildings in the area that were still standing collapse. Even a hundred meters above the ground, Pavoroc can feel the shockwaves. When the dust finally settles, Azrael is laying motionless in the middle of a massive impact crater. At this point, Pavoroc decides to rain down some lightning on the monster.

The lightning slams into Azrael, who was slowly getting up. The electricity dances about his body as he continues to rise, ignoring the pain to the best of his ability. He gazes up at Pavoroc and a smirk crosses the demon's face.
"You seem to be forgetting something. You may have figured out my weakness, but your weakness is just as obvious!"
Pavoroc dives down at Azrael and begins slamming his beak into the demon's head. The beak tears into his flesh, but Azrael reaches outward with his right hand, grabbing the raptor by his neck. Azrael surges darkness throughout the bird's body. Pavoroc screeches in pain as his entire body is rocked with pain and suffering. Azrael finishes his statements...
"I may have to worry about overload, but my body is built to take abuse. My regeneration has already kicked in, and is beginning to heal my wounds from earlier. My stamina keeps me chugging along like a freight train. But what do you have?"
Azrael's raises his head high into the air, then suddenly swings it back down. The massive horn on his head slams down with tremendous for, tearing directly into Pavoroc's left shoulder. The avian guardian lets out a painful cry as Azrael removes his horn from the wound, blood pouring down Pavoroc's feathers as he does so.
"You have nothing! NOTHING!"
Azrael grabs Pavoroc's head with his free hand and releases the bird's neck. Spinning around, the demon charges forward and leaps into the air, bringing the raptor with him. Both slam into the ground, Azrael landing on his rump, while Pavoroc isn't so fortunate. His head is slammed into the ground with tremendous force, and his body is rocked by the effects. Azrael slowly gets up, his foe still in grasp even after the Bulldog he just delivered.
"You are a frail bird. You barely weigh anything. I can break you."
Azrael places his free hand onto Pavoroc's leg and adjusts the other to grip Pavoroc's neck again. He kneels down, making sure his knee is in the right spot. Azrael raises the bird into the air, facing the avian's back downwards.
"I will break you."
Azrael brings Pavoroc down...

As Azrael brings Pavoroc down, the bird has the presence of mind to spread his wings and train, unleashing a flash. Azrael releases the bird as his retinas are seared and he loses control of his body once again. Instead of immediately flying away, however, Pavoroc buries his talons in Azrael’s neck and, with a piercing cry, begins hammering away on the demon’s skull with his hatchet-like beak. He lingers just a fraction of a second too long however, and Azrael regains movement just in time to blindly reach out and grab Pavoroc’s tail feathers as he tries to fly away. Pavoroc is dragged back down with a squawk slammed to the ground on his back. He quickly retaliates with his wing bolts, making the demon roar in pain and release his grip once again.
This time, Pavoroc wastes no time in getting away. By now, Azrael’s vison is returning, and he fires his Fel beam at the bird. The beam hits its mark, striking Pavoroc square in the chest. Much to his shock, instead of exploding and sending the guardian plummeting back to the earth, it simply breaks apart on contact and begins swirling around Pavoroc’s body. He can only look on in confusion as the streams of energy turn from black to white before coalescing back on his chest and firing off as a massive beam. The beam, double the power of the Azrael’s Fel beam, slams into the demon’s chest, blasting him backwards with a tremendous explosion. He flies back nearly a hundred meters, then skids across the ground for a hundred more before coming to rest. An instant later, Pavoroc flies over the demon at top speed, a powerful sonic boom in his wake.

Azrael is rocked by the sonic boom, sending him rolling across the ground. The demon rises up to his feet and dusts himself off, snorting in anger as he does so. He glares up at Pavoroc, who has swung around for another attack. Azrael crouches as he prepares for the attack. At the right moment, Azrael jumps straight up, facing his spined shell upwards. With major luck factoring in, Azrael has managed to slam into the avian guardian, digging his spines into the bird's flesh. Pavoroc howls in pain as Azrael flips his body to make sure his back is facing downward.
Momentum carries both of them down, and Pavoroc lets out a terrible cry as he is smashed into the ground under Azrael's weight. The spines dig deeper into the bird as Azrael cackles in laughter. His laughter soon changes to a roar of pain as Pavoroc unleashes his wing bolts upon the demon. Azrael gets off of his foe, stumbling as he does. Pavoroc prepares to take off, but the demon grabs him by the train. Azrael swings himself around and releases the bird with a mighty throw, sending the guardian hurtling into the remaining section of the city. Pavoroc smashes into a skyscraper, and the building's support gives out, crashing down onto the bird as well.
Azrael charges a ball of darkness in his hand and launches it at the debris...

The orb slams into the pile of debris and explodes, but Pavoroc is shielded from much of the blast by the very same rubble. With that now gone, he stands up and shakes the dust from his feathers before giving them a quick preening. Azrael is less than amused by this, and fires a Fel beam to get the bird’s attention. Pavoroc continues his preening as the beam strikes him, breaking apart into strands of energy. He continues to preen for a few more seconds as the energy swirls around his body before looking up.
“That wasn’t very smart.”
Azrael merely snarls in response. The bird takes off, flying toward the demon and firing a Rainbow beam. Azrael puts up his shield and blocks the beam, but in reality this was just a feint on Pavoroc’s part. The instant the Rainbow beam stops and Azrael drops his shield, a huge white beam slams into him and blasts him backwards.
Pavoroc begins flapping his wings, kicking up hurricane winds. After a couple seconds, cuts begin appearing all over Azrael’s prone body. Fighting through the pain, he eventually manages to grab a hunk of rubble and hurl it at Pavoroc, nailing the guardian in the head and ceasing the attack. After shaking the stars from his vision, Pavoroc retaliates first with a Rainbow beam, striking Azrael just as the beast gets back to its feet, then immediately follows with his wings bolts.

Once more (but with feeling!) a shield of darkness protects the demon from the attack. The shield lowers and to Azrael's surprise Pavoroc immediately repeats the attack, blasting the demon with electricity. Azrael howls in pain and frustration, stumbling backwards. He lets out a bellowing roar and follows up with anger.
"I'm sick and tired of wasting my time. DIE!"
Azrael's body suddenly begins to surge with darkness. Pavoroc suddenly felt a strange feeling... As if he was being held in mid flight. He soon realized he was, but could not tell what was holding him down. Gazing down, he realized what was going on. There were shadowy hands holding onto his own cast down shadow.
"What kind of sorcery is this?!"
Azrael smirked. The darkness surrounding his body suddenly shot him at Pavoroc like a cannon. The avian cried out in pain as an explosion of darkness covered his body. But Azrael was not finished, and was still going, with Pavoroc in grip. Azrael spread his wings and spun around multiple times and released the guardian, sending him crashing down into the ground. Pavoroc cried out in absolute pain as he felt as if his entire body had been broken.
He screeched in pain once more, however, as Azrael came down hard, smashing his foot into the bird's back. Pavoroc struggled to free him as Azrael pinned him down and prepared to use his free foot to curbstomp the guardian...

Azrael’s foot slams down on Pavoroc’s back again, making the bird squawk in pain. As the demon raises his foot up for another stomp, Pavoroc spreads his wings and train and unleashes a flash of rainbow energy. Azrael roars and stumbles back, allowing Pavoroc to get up. The guardian leaps up with a flap of his wings and sinks his ankle spurs into either side of the stunned demon’s neck before ripping them out with twin sprays of blood.
Pavoroc flaps his wings again, backing away from Azrael just as he starts to regain movement. After a few seconds, the demon’s vision returns... only to be blinded an instant later by another flash. With that, Pavoroc lands then fans out his train and begins firing his Rainbow Barrage. Azrael is helpless as he’s mercilessly pelted by dozens of energy spheres. The assault lasts nearly a minute, ending with Azrael over a hundred meters back from where he started, lying face-down on the ruined pavement, smoke rising from his body.
Lowering his train, Pavoroc takes to the air again, charging his Rainbow beam to its maximum before firing it and engulfing the prone demon in a massive explosion. Not waiting for the smoke to clear, he fires a second, uncharged beam at Azrael.
