"Do we know if these shadow thingies are susceptible to poison?" Basil said while rolling a pen between his fingers with mild interest. "I specifically designed Tarantutron as a capture droid - something to incapacitate kaiju and transport them to a the lawless zone where they can live in peace. While its venom isn't the only tool it sports to meet this function, if the shadow beasts are vulnerable to it a live capture wouldn't be too hard."

"Suchodon's venom seemed to have an effect on Overkill, so it's certainly worth a shot."

Robert thought about this for a moment and a report came to mind "If I remember correctly, there was a group of our boys who made a hi-tech concrete glue...I do believe that may be helpful in this cause once mounted on a unit." he threw in his two cents since everyone else was doing so.

"From the data we've acquired so far, combined with what's presented here," General Williams said, "most of the shadow monsters appear to be susceptible to standard weaponry. The Tormentor we took down days ago was downed by missiles fired from some of our XFU-24s. The bigger ones like the hybrids and the monster that attacked London are tougher, but again seem susceptible to the weapons brought to bear on it. Tormata is a different case altogether, although those orb weakpoints were vulnerable to anything we threw at it."
"Indeed," Natalie interjected. "I might be jumping to conclusions here, but I think it might be safe to presume that most Shadow monsters are susceptible to just about anything, with obvious exceptions. Tormentors and others without fleshy parts are probably not affected by toxins."

After a few moments of silence pass, Neil speaks up. "Well, it would seem we are in agreement then. We'll try to capture one of these shadow creatures alive for study. Instead of assigning a single of our groups to the task, I suggest we each try to capture one as the opportunity arises. It wouldn't hurt to have more than one specimen, after all." Several nods follow. "Alright, meeting adjourned."
As everyone gets up and begins to filter out of the room, Neil speak up again. "Oh, General Williams, could I ask you, Ben, and Natalie to stay a short while longer? There's something I'd like to show you."

General Williams and his entourage stuck around while the others were leaving, after promising to send all relevant information to their respective HQs about Jericho.
"Something on your mind Mr. Maxwell?"

Robert was quick to leave, his mind a whirl with all the facts and information running through it. The man wasted no time, almost racing back to Unit009 and his team, while he knew he couldn't tell them everything he could at least warn them of the storm that was building on the horizon.
Cytosaur slowly raised his long snout to watch the Commander return, but the kaiju could sense that something was wrong, he could smell fear and the human was moving at an accelerated pace...

-At the same time-
Theraga peered down at the glowing cube, glancing over Caitlyn's shoulder and watching curiously. The strange, metallic object was moving- panels slid to and fro, in and out, overlapping and rearranging themselves almost constantly. As they did, a bright light emanated from its core, almost as if it were trying to project something. "I don't get it..." Caitlyn whispered, watching in fascination. "I didn't even touch the the thing."
Without warning, the exterior of the cube stopped. Its pieces, though now in different places, fit together just as they had before- the surface of the box was perfectly smooth. But now, clearly shining from what looked to be a mere pinhole of an opening, was a miniature portal. Theraga snorted aloud, thinking something along the lines of "What the hell?". I don't know. Caitlyn thought. It's too small to fit through... I don't know if- Caitlyn raised her hand and pressed it against the portal. Oddly, her fingers passed through it without any sort of interaction- no tingle, no sudden rush of cold. And she could clearly see the rest of her hand on the other side, still in the room and clearly not entering any other worlds. Weird. It's like it's not even there. Caitlyn told Theraga. I don't think it's a portal at all.
As the two studied it more closely, it became apparent that something was becoming visible in the "portal". Like some sort of swirling, yellow video screen, the mysterious glow began to project what looked like a very large city. As it came into focus, Caitlyn realized that she'd seen it before on TV. "That's Dallas." She murmured, looking harder. "But that's here on Earth. Why would it...?" Suddenly, descending into focus, a serpentine figure filled the "screen". Swooping down from the cloud cover, Gorgon soared over the cityscape, his sinuous shadow slithering over the buildings below. The giant snake opened its mouth and let out a horribly cry before pressing onward, beating its enormous wings and heading towards an unseen location. "No! No, no, NO! Are you kidding me?!" Caitlyn shouted, backing up from the cube. "How did HE get here?" Theraga snarled and shook his head- he barely understood how he had gotten here. But he wasn't the least bit happy to see Gorgon again. "Geez, look at him!" Caitlyn exclaimed, watching the serpent's flight over Dallas. "He must've caught our scent. Look how focused he is..."
The image in the portal began to fade.
"Hey! Wait a minute! We weren't done with that!" Caitlyn protested, grabbing the box and trying to find a button to press. Unsuccessful, she smacked the side of the box with her hand- immediately causing the image to disappear. "Dammit!" Theraga growled, lowering his head and turning away. There's gotta be a way to get this thing working again! Caitlyn insisted, picking up the box and turning it around in her hands. But Theraga wasn't concerned with the cube, not half so much as he was with the news it had brought. It seemed that there was no denying it anymore... he and Caitlyn would have to leave Imar. If they stayed then Gorgon would follow them here for sure. I know. Caitlyn commented. I told you we needed to get a move on it... Imar's not ready for another monster attack. They've taken care of a lot of the damage, but Gorgon's not going to cut them any slack. We've gotta lead him away from here- and then we can deal with Val. Theraga growled, agitated. This was shaping up to be a really bad week.
Then, out of the blue, another image appeared on the screen. Caitlyn's eyes lit up ecstatically as a familiar face popped up in front of her. "KORUGOR!" She squealed, lifting the box and beaming. "You have no idea how happy I am to see you! Is Isabelle there?!" The image immediately blurred and faded, shifting to an empty looking desert. "What?! NO!" Caitlyn shouted angrily, shaking the box. "Go back! Go back!" Theraga came closer, lowering his head and watching intently as the landscape swirled and changed again. This time it was the inside of a living room, lavishly decorated but empty. Caitlyn shook the box again and the room vanished; a giant silhouette appeared in its place. "Wait a minute..." Caitlyn paused, a fearful look gripping her face. "Theraga..... why does that look familiar?" The four legged kaiju leaned closer, trying to distinguish the form. He did feel like he'd seen it before... but the light just wasn't good enough. He couldn't tell for sure. Then, lighting up the "screen", two bright green eyes appeared- and Caitlyn immediately wished they hadn't. Theraga too realized what he was looking at and, rearing back in absolute outrage, roared out loud. Staring back at them, grinning viciously and clearly aware that he was being watched, was Scython. And directly behind him, swirling just above the ground, was a full-sized portal.
