(OOC: Continuing this in a separate thread so as not to interfere with the battle in the original. Also, just to avoid it happening again, please don't interfere.)

“Your help is much appreciated, Riptide.” Jason says into the com-link. “Normally Suchodon would be more than willing to lend a hand, but he’s pretty beat up right now. We owe you one.”
“No problem, you just concentrate on getting out of here. Also, I’ve been informed that a shark monster codenamed Thresher is in the area as well. Can’t get a fix on him at the moment, so keep an eye out in case he decides to get friendly. I had a run-in with him a few days ago, and he’s a nasty SOB.”
“Thanks for the heads-up. Good luck out there.”
“Same to you.”
Ben cuts off the communication and returns to the business of dealing with the kaiju, leaving the vessel to make its getaway. By this time, the Adam pilots have gotten back in their mechs and are taking up positions around the ship. Jason glances back at the hold, checking on the two kaiju. They’re fine, despite the rude awakening. Both are sitting to steady themselves, and are staring intently back at the ever-shrinking monsters behind them. Upon seeing they’re fine, Jason shifts his gaze to the soon-to-be battle as well.
After several minutes, Riptide and the other two monsters disappear beyond the horizon. With a sigh of relief, Jason turns back around. “Alright, looks like we’re in the clear. Slow back down to cruising speed.” The vessel slowly decelerates over the next couple minutes as the turbocharged secondary props shut off and the excess momentum runs out.
With everything settling down, Jason goes back down to the cafeteria. As he comes down the stairs, he sees Caitlyn standing by the windows, looking out at Theraga.
“Looks like we’re in the clear. Now, where were we?”

Thresher escaped the creatures behind him, following under the waves behind the transport, remaining out of sight, but apparently not out of mind...
He suddenly stopped and looked back at the isle. He sensed another of his masters' warriors had arrived. Grinning and roaring beneath the sea, he fell flat and straight, speeding up again...
Beneath the ground, Razor was slowly following, tunneling through the sand below Thresher.

Sensing that Thresher had moved off, Psycat waited for Brakatak to answer his challenge.

(As IR pointed out, if Psycat and Brakatak decide to battle, then do it in the other thread. I just wanted to enforce this here as well.)

(yeeah, I should've posted earlier but didn't get the chance. College is being a pain right now so I'm gonna have to press the old pause button here. I'll try to get back in when I get time.)

"Ah... you were just telling me that I've gone batshit crazy and we're on a planet named after dirt." Caitlyn said, walking away from the window and slumping down in her chair.

“Indeed, minus the batshit crazy part. You said that box of yours opened up a portal.” Jason takes a seat across from Caitlyn. “Since you look like a perfectly normal human, I’m guessing that portal was of the dimensional variety, and your Tarrun is the parallel equivalent of our Earth. Unless, of course, you have a better explanation.”
Caitlyn sighs before responding. “No, that’s probably about right. Looks like I’m stuck here until I can figure out how to work that blasted thing.”
“Well it’ll take us a couple days to get back to base. You can stay in my quarters in the meantime.”
Caitlyn gives him a funny look.
“What?” Then the potential implications of what he said hit him. “OH! Oh god, no, I didn’t mean it like that.” He says, waving his hands frantically. “I’ll sleep down here.” On that note, he gets up and walks over to the buffet table and grabs a ham sandwich. “You’re really lucky, actually.”
“Oh?”
“Today was only the sixth day since we dropped Suchodon off at the LZ. He was supposed to stay there for a full month as the final stage of his training, but we cut it short after Theraga and that other monster appeared in Miami.” He sits back down across from her and takes a bite of the sandwich.

So that's what Theraga was up to before he saved me... Caitlyn thought, glancing out the window.
"Other monster?" She asked aloud. "What happened? I didn't meet up with Theraga until he came to the LZ."

Jason finishes his mouthful of sandwich before answering. “Four days ago, Theraga and another monster which has since been named Thaussian appeared in a coastal city. They fought, and Theraga ended up killing Thaussian. At that point, the military attacked Theraga and he fled into the ocean. Afterwards, Cyclone, one of the other Global Defense Force organizations, collected Thaussian’s body, presumably for testing.”

"I see..." Caitlyn said. "Well, I hope he didn't cause too much damage in the process. He means well, but he can be pretty destructive if he's not careful..."

Jason waves his hand dismissively. "Nothing irreparable. We've certainly had worse."

"Well, that's good." Caitlyn replied, smiling faintly. There was a brief quiet, a sort of awkward silence, before anyone spoke up again. "So..." Caitlyn sighed, trying to strike up conversation again. "There are giant monsters here too. How do you deal with them?"

“Well, of course there's the military, but conventional weapons rarely prove to me more than a mild annoyance to the average monster. The best protection is provided by the Global Defense Force organizations. Suchodon and everyone aboard this vessel belongs to Imar Science, which is one of the four current organizations.” He points to the Harpy and Adams sitting on the deck at the front of the ship. “That gunship and the four humanoid mecha out there are two of our weapons. We specialize in genetics though, and Suchodon is our crowning achievement.” He continues, looking out back at the monster. “He’s a man-made chimera, made from combining genetic material from several animals.”

"Ahhh... we have a place like that back home, Kymaera Industries. They make lots of hybrids like that too. Mainly pets and things, though. I don't think they've ever made anything as big as Suchodon." She said, remembering her Toku back home. "It must've been a lot of work, creating him."

Jason nods his head as he swallows another bite of his sandwich. “It was. There were a few failures before him, unfortunately, but thankfully they all terminated before they could develop enough to get attached to, y’know? Once Sucho started moving we knew he was the one.” He looks out the windows overlooking the cargo hold and smiles slightly as he continues, “Heh, it’s kinda funny. As excited as everyone was over it, it seemed like they cared more about the success of the experiment itself than the fact that we’d created a living being. I was about the only one that spent any amount of time with him during his development. That’s why he’s so close to me.”
“That’s sweet. How long did it take before he was, err, ‘born’?”
“11 and a half months. He was 3 meters tall and weighed just over a ton. That was a year and a half ago.”
“Wow. That’s impressive. Some sort of growth hormones, I’m guessing?”
“Yes, and a ridiculous amount of food. He’s full grown now, though.”
“He seems smart, too.”
“He is. One thing we wanted to make sure when we were planning him out was that he would be smart. We didn’t want an attack animal that would just be let off its leash and sicced on another monster. It’d be too dangerous, and would probably cause just as much collateral damage as whatever it was fighting. Since none of the creatures we used as gene donors are particularly smart, we messed with the genetic material to increase his intelligence. It worked, but the irony is we don’t really know just how smart we made him. He’s definitely smarter than any dog, though. He’ll respond to pretty complex commands, but we’re not sure if that’s just from his training or whether he actually understands what’s being said. Really hard to figure how smart something is when it can’t talk.” After finishing off the last bite of his sandwich, he decides to redirect the conversation. “So, what about Theraga? What’s his story?”
